At the Roman Theater in Orange, educational workshops invite students to discover the world of ancient Roman craftsmen through the creation of a clay object: theater mask, oil lamp or amphorette. After a brief introduction to everyday objects and their use at the time, each participant is guided through the creation of a piece inspired by ancient models.

The workshop, organized for groups of 20 to 30 students, offers a moment of concrete, creative experimentation, promoting understanding of ancient skills and the link between heritage, history and manual practice.

From Roman to modern engineering

Come and discover the “From Roman to modern genius” educational trail and learn how Roman genius developed in a remarkable way and left its mark on our modern cultures and civilizations.

Set up in 4 of the ancient theater’s alcoves, the tour is accessible to young and old alike, and retraces the major themes of life in Roman times: the art of theater, school and law, hydrography, as well as food and games!

Theater legends

In 2025, the Roman Theater in Orange unveiled “Les Légendes du Théâtre”, a new immersive space housed in its alcoves, inviting visitors to explore the history of the shows that have forged the company’s reputation . this unique site. This innovative tour combines exclusive archives, never-before-seen documentaries and state-of-the-art technology. such as virtual reality (VR Music Live, © Edeis).

Through anecdotes, photographic archives and sensory experiences and sensory experiences, the tour celebrates 2,000 years of history and confirms the Théâtre Antique d’Orange d’Orange as a living heritage and a cultural stage of international stature.

The tour is open daily during the monument’s opening hours.

Thanks to a virtual reality headset and a state-of-the-art Yamaha headset, follow Jade, a young actress of our time, and plunge into the golden age of the Roman Theater in Orange, in the first century AD!

When she finds a mysterious Roman theater mask, Jade is transported back two thousand years to the heyday of the ancient theater. Guided by the Theatre’s soul, she must get the show on the road in time.

Offered as a complement to the visit, the virtual reality historical experience “Les secrets du Théâtre, un voyage inattendu” (Theatre secrets, an unexpected journey) is part of an unprecedented approach, that of a journey into the past using innovative technology.
